Luminescent Chemical reaction
Materials
Test tubes, yogurt pots, plastic pipette, graduated cylinder, luminol, hydrogen peroxide, glowing, coloring substance (eosin, fluorescein, methylene blue) and potassium ferricyanide.
Experiment
We measure 20 ml of potassium ferricyanide. Pour it in a yogurt pot. With a plastic pipette pour 5ml of
potassium ferricyanide in each of the 4 test tubes. Add two drops of colorant and mix it to make the substance homogenous. Pour 4 drops of hydrogen peroxide in each tube. Pour the luminol
in a yogurt pot. Pour drops of luminol in the test tubes. We can see a colored light.
How does it work ?
The chemical reaction between hydrogen peroxide and luminol produces colored light. When the chemical reaction is over, the production of light ends.
Conclusion
This chemical reaction produces its own light as a con
sequence it's a primary light source.
